This week, Tuxford Primary Academy took part in road safety week. It was an exciting and educational experience for all the children, as they learned how to stay safe on our roads, particularly around large vehicles.

The highlight of the week was when several impressive vehicles parked on the playground for the children to explore. The fire brigade brought along one of their fire engines, and local companies Walker’s and Hutchinson’s supported the event by showcasing their large vehicles. The drivers were on hand to teach the children about road safety, including how to stay visible and avoid blind spots. A particularly memorable lesson was discovering that standing on the left side of a large vehicle means the driver might not see you. The children were thrilled by the chance to honk horns and hear the sirens too!

Back in the classroom, pupils practised the vital road safety rule: stop, look, listen, think when crossing the road. The importance of being visible, especially during winter, was also emphasised.

A huge thank you to all the visitors who made this week so engaging and informative for our children. Road safety awareness week has helped ensure the children are more prepared to stay safe on our roads.
