Our fantastic nursery in Tuxford, Nottinghamshire, focuses on giving all children a head start in their educational journey, nurturing creative minds with a focus on discovery, investigation and exploration through play.

At Tuxford Primary Academy nursery, your child will thrive in a warm and welcoming school setting that offers excellent facilities and a safe environment to explore. Our nursery is led by a qualified teacher who supports every child’s early development and builds the foundations for a successful start to school life. Facilities

Our nursery offers dedicated indoor spaces for learning and play, alongside a shared outdoor area where children develop physical skills, teamwork, resilience and problem-solving.

  • Reading area – a quiet and inviting space where children can explore books and develop a love for storytelling.
  • Domestic role play – encourages role-play and imaginative play, fostering communication and social skills.
  • Sand and water area – provides sensory play opportunities that support early problem-solving and fine motor skills.
  • Construction area – a creative space for building, teamwork and spatial awareness.
  • Creative area – encourages self-expression through painting, drawing and creative projects.
  • Maths area – a hands-on space where children use natural resources to explore number and pattern.
  • Science area – a dedicated area for exploring scientific concepts through play and discovery.
  • Dough play – enhances creativity, imagination and develops fine motor skills.
  • Large construction area – encouraging problem-solving and teamwork through hands-on construction activities.
  • Road with bikes and trikes – supports gross motor development and creative role-play as well as road safety awareness.
  • Climbing and balancing equipment – supports sequencing, coordination and physical confidence.
  • Den building facilities – encourages creativity, teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Mud kitchen – a fun, hands-on space for imaginative play and sensory experiences.
  • Large water play – problem solving and developing gross motor skills.
  • Sports equipment – to invent games and activities with friends.

Up to 30 hours FREE childcare places available

Families may be eligible for 15 or 30 hours free childcare which can be spread across morning, afternoon or full day spaces.

Sessions and charges

Morning session, 8.45 – 11.45am
Afternoon session, 12.15 – 15.15pm
Full-day session, 8.45am – 15.15pm

Additional hours not covered by the funded childcare entitlement are charged at £16.74 per session.

Lunchtime is from 11.45am to 12.15pm each day. 

School meals cost £2.85 per day. Meals are free once children attend full time under the universal free school meals (UFSM) scheme. Packed lunches are also welcome.

Lunchtime supervision and care is charged at £2 per day for the 30-minute lunchtime period.

Parents as partners

When your child has been accepted for a place at our nursery, you will be invited to attend parents as partners sessions. We believe a strong partnership between school and home is key to success. Our parents as partners programme supports a smooth transition into nursery, giving families opportunities to meet staff, learn about the curriculum and join in activities with their child.

Free fruit and milk for children under five

Each child that registers with Cool Milk will receive a portion of semi-skimmed milk every day. Find out more and how to register on our parents pages.
