How to support your child’s reading

For many children, reading books with their parents or carers is one of their favourite parts of the day. It provides them with valuable bonding time, as well as introducing them to the wider world around them.
 
Research shows that children who start school with a strong vocabulary and good communication skills find it easier to make friends, have fewer behavioural issues and are more likely to do well academically.
 
Spending time each day reading to your child, or encouraging them to read independently, can help to build vocabulary and improve communication skills, providing your child with a strong foundation for the future.
