Below, we explain what uniform should be worn up to year 4, and how it changes for year 5 and 6 children. Please ensure that children always adhere to these uniform rules – it creates a consistent look through the academy, and we know that our pupils love to wear their Tuxford Primary Academy uniform with pride.

Please refer to our uniform policy on our policy page.

New uniform guidelines

As you may be aware, government guidelines on uniform are changing and will come into full effect in September 2023. The purpose of this guidance is to ensure the cost of school uniforms is reasonable and parents get the best value for money.

With this in mind, we have ensured that, if parents wish to purchase uniform items with the academy logo, our supplier gives the highest priority to cost and value for money, including the quality and durability of the garment.

However, we have also made changes to our uniform to also ensure that parents can buy all school uniform items (without logo) from any store.
If you can any questions about uniform, including where you can access second-hand uniform, please contact us.

Hair, jewellery and labels

On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery. However, if it is unavoidable, those with freshly pierced ears may wear one set of plain studs. These must be taken out during PE and should be left at home on these days if your child cannot manage to take them out themselves. Hair that is long enough must be tied back at all times with a plain, neutral coloured band or clips (no other hair accessories).

All clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. This is especially important, as uniform items look similar and can easily be confused for another pupil’s. The academy cannot accept responsibility for any lost items.
