Sport premium grant
What is the Sport Premium Grant?
In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150m for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision.
This funding is ring-fenced to be used for sport-specific areas, to make an impact in PE and sport in schools.
Schools are free to determine how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
Tuxford Primary Academy received £18,650 this year to fund improvements to the provision of PE and sport. This is for the benefit of primary aged pupils in the 2018-19 academic year and helps to give them the opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle.
How will we use the funding in 2018-19?
- Employing a PE specialist to work as a teacher
- Funding an additional lunchtime play-focused support
- Swimming lessons at Worksop College
- Increase the number of children involved in inter-schools competitions
- Continuation of current clubs for all years
What impact did the Sport Premium Grant have for our children in 2017-18?
We used the funding in the following areas:
- PE specialist teacher
- swimming top up
- travel to sporting events (minibus)
- sporting equipment
